Le Cirque des Rêves, a spectacular sight of colors and sparks, children running and screaming to get to the next tent. It seems as if everything in the circus was a spectacular sight. It all had to blow the mind of the circus-goer with pops whistles and explosions. However there is a room of silence. A room of true beauty and serenity. This room does exist, deep within the circus, hidden from the common public, however it is still open to all that have found it. I found it, almost when I thought I had seen the best this far, but it was soon that I would find the tent of the scented jar.
The name alone cannot describe the tent, because it puts me in another state of mind. The transition from the loud, outrageous circus, to peace and quiet. The tent is dark, only lit by the jars in the room, and the small crack of light let in by the circus. The darkness allows you to reflect and absorb the atmosphere. It really made me think, and reflect on myself. The sound is different from silence, but I’m not sure what that feeling would be. However, it was a quite mysterious feeling. The room is quiet in long streaks, only broken by the constant scuttle of a mouse or quiet chatter of the guests. Hosted by Widget, an interesting boy, full of energy, and seemed to always have some sort of sugary snack. His ability was telling the past of others through their face. For someone with such powers, it can be a lot of faces and a lot of stories. Widget’s scented jars tent creates peace for himself. He seemed at peace, though he did consume quite a bit of sugar.
As I walked through, people seemed calm, which was strange because they had just experienced major thrills just outside the tent. It seemed no one was all that interested in chatting, only very few are brave enough to interrupt the quiet. Most of the people were just interested in absorbing the atmosphere.
I can understand why, it smelled wonderful in there. There were many different illuminated jars, each with a seemingly different smell. Some pungent, some spicy, some sweet with a hint of salty. I couldn’t quite put my finger on which jar was which meal, or food, or plant, but the overall scent of the room was the most exciting part about the room. It truly made me feel as if I were one of the gentlemen in red I saw around the circus, beaming at the circus with such excitement, and a look of a man that was proud. They truly knew how to enjoy the circus.
It was a room resembling a dining room or just a long room, which isn’t surprising based on the scent of food in the air, or smoke, or just a combination of things. The jars were all quite different. Their size and shapes and smells all varied, and there seemed to be no copies of jars, or repeated smells.
Reflection
I did a review of my own tent for the Night Circus project and it was difficult, yet fun. I got to dig up my skills in creative writing, and descriptive writing a well. I enjoy creative writing, but it seems like the process for me to think of a certain situation or scenario I very time consuming. However, the end result seems to be worth it. Not to brag, but I really think I did a good job in creating a situation where the man goes to the tent, and more importantly how I described it.
